We originally planned Orléans as a short stop during our France road trip… but it quickly became far more than that.
After spending time exploring Centre-Ville, walking the historic streets and discovering the extraordinary history connected to Joan of Arc, we realized Orléans is one of the most underrated cities in France.
Located along the Loire River just south of Paris, Orléans combines medieval history, Gothic architecture, Renaissance buildings, relaxed cafés and easy access to some of the most famous castles in the Loire Valley. It feels authentically French, far less crowded than many major tourist cities and surprisingly easy to explore on foot.
