Cafe restaurant, Le Merrill
We arrived in Paris, checked out our apartment that we booked through Air BnB, dropped our things, and off we went to explore our neighbourhood.
We’d had a light meal on the plane earlier in the day, but wanted a light lunch. We walked a few blocks to see where the grocers were, and came across quite a few boulangeries or patisseries.
We spotted a few cafes but liked the look of Le Merrill. We stopped to look at the menu & the door was flung wide by a server who called out “Bonjour!” “Come, come!” he said, so we did.
With patio seating, complete with lap blankets, and indoor seating, we decided to dine in as it was quite cool. We settled on French Onion Soup (we know, we know, but why wouldn’t you!) with a side of Camembert. We had water with our meal (to catch up from a dehydrating flight) still for me & sparkling for him.

The small restaurant got quite busy for lunch, the other diners’ food looked delicious too. The menu shows escargot, Duck confit, a cheese burger, cheese plates to share (ou non!), salads, crepes & luscious desserts like Tarte Tatin & Crème Brûlée.
The service was very efficient + our meal came quite quickly.
It was nice to enjoy good food, watching the traffic whiz by & think how amazing it was that one minute we’re in Vancouver, Canada, the next Paris, France!
