Waterfront dining, colourful shops and wonderful Queen Mary views beside Rainbow Harbor

If you’re ever trekking about in Long Beach, USA, Shoreline Village Long Beach + Rainbow Harbor area has a bunch of waterfront spots to check out, including eateries. Most are right next to each other so you can walk between them + you’ll see the Queen Mary across the water.

Restaurants right on the Harbour – Shoreline Village/Rainbow Harbor

Parkers’ Lighthouse is an upscale restaurant that serves seafood, clam chowder, and yes, fish & chips. It’s a beautiful spot to sit & sip, with gorgeous parrots out front + the best patio view of the Queen Mary.

The Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. has seafood, shrimp everything, Forrest Gump themed! It’s casual, family-friendly, and right on the water.
Another great patio for watching boats come in.

Gladstones Long Beach serves up seafood + California cuisine. They’re famous for their seafood tower! This is a little more upscale and romantic. Their huge deck over the water is an added bonus. It is a waterfront seafood restaurant near the Aquarium of the Pacific. The lighthouse-style building is Parkers’ Lighthouse. There’s a Starbucks coffee + light bites, perfect if you just want to sit outside with a view.

Quick Tips
Best for Queen Mary views: Parkers’ Lighthouse and Gladstones provide excellent Queen Mary views. Gladstone’s has harbour views, but sight lines can vary by table.

Best for families/kids: Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Parking: Shoreline Village has paid parking structures. Current validated parking starts at $2 for the first two hours after a minimum $10 purchase. Additional time is charged separately.

Walk after: Shoreline Village has lots of great shops, bike rentals, and the Aquarium of the Pacific is only a 10–15-minute walk.

We really enjoyed Long Beach, another place we wish we’d had more time. We’ll be back, as someone once said!

Shops are generally open daily from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Restaurants maintain their own hours.

Admission:
There is no general admission charge to enter Shoreline Village or walk along the waterfront.

Accessibility:
The main boardwalk, restaurants and shopping areas are generally level and accessible. Individual boat operators have separate accessibility arrangements.

Best time to visit:
Late afternoon works particularly well. Visitors can explore the shops in daylight, have dinner beside the water and then see the harbour, lighthouse and Queen Mary illuminated after sunset.

How much time to allow:
Allow two to three hours for a leisurely walk, shopping and a meal. Add another two or three hours for the aquarium, harbour cruise or whale-watching trip.

2026 redevelopment note:
Shoreline Village began redevelopment work in 2026, but its businesses remain open during construction. Visitors should expect occasional changes to pedestrian routes, parking access or individual storefronts.

Exact dates and locations change annually, so these should be presented as events to watch for rather than guaranteed dates.

Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach: April

One of Long Beach’s biggest annual events takes place on streets surrounding the waterfront. Shoreline Village remains a popular dining and viewing area, but access and parking become extremely busy.

Long Beach Pride: May

The annual Pride celebration traditionally includes a waterfront festival and parade, bringing live entertainment, vendors and large crowds to Downtown Long Beach.

Shoreline Village Summer Concert Series: Summer

Free outdoor concerts are normally staged at Shoreline Village throughout the summer, with performances continuing through Labor Day weekend. The 2026 series includes pop, reggae, tribute bands, DJs and ’90s music.

Fourth of July Waterfront Celebrations: July

The waterfront hosts Independence Day entertainment and seasonal activities. Shoreline Village is a popular gathering place, so parking usually fills early.

Love Long Beach Festival: July

Held at nearby Shoreline Aquatic Park, this summer festival combines live music, DJs, food vendors, arts, yoga and wellness activities.

Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival : Summer

Teams compete in colourful dragon boats at Marine Stadium. Although it is not directly at Shoreline Village, it is one of the city’s significant annual waterfront events.

Long Beach Marathon: October

The marathon route normally incorporates parts of the Long Beach waterfront. Road closures and increased visitor traffic should be expected.

Día de los Muertos Celebration: Autumn

Downtown Long Beach commonly hosts a colourful Day of the Dead celebration featuring altars, performances, art, food and community activities.

Christmas Boat Parade and Holiday Events: December

Decorated boats, seasonal entertainment and illuminated waterfront displays make December an attractive time to visit the harbour.

Top Five Things to Do Near Shoreline Village

1. Explore the Shoreline Village Boardwalk

Walk among the colourful buildings, independent shops, restaurants and sweet shops while watching sailboats and harbour traffic. It is particularly attractive around sunset.

2. Visit the Aquarium of the Pacific

Located about a 10–15-minute walk away, the aquarium features more than 12,000 marine animals, including sharks, sea otters, penguins and colourful Pacific marine life.

3. Take a Harbour or Whale-Watching Cruise

Boat trips depart from Rainbow Harbor for sightseeing around the Long Beach waterfront. Longer excursions travel into the Pacific in search of dolphins, sea lions and migrating whales. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

4. Walk Through Shoreline Aquatic Park

Follow the waterfront paths to the Lions Lighthouse for panoramic views of Rainbow Harbor, the marina, Downtown Long Beach and the Queen Mary.

5. Rent a Bicycle or Pedal Surrey

Rentals provide an easy way to explore the paved waterfront paths, marina, Shoreline Aquatic Park and nearby beaches without having to move the car.
