VERDICT: WE GAVE 4 OUT OF 5 TICKETS AND HERE’S WHY!
Fisherman’s Wharf; Steveston, BC, Canada
We work a lot. I mean A LOT a lot. So daytrips aren’t taken very often but we do love them when we can take off for a few hours
This one particular Saturday morning looked a little overcast, but we’re nothing if not resilient when it comes to our weather changes in British Columbia. We stopped to grab a Starbucks (of course) & off we drove into the slightly drizzly day.
By the time we arrived at Fisherman’s Wharf in Steveston, the rain had stopped & it felt fresh & clean, even the sun was peeking out. There’s pay parking (easily done on an app) so we chose a spot & started to wander down the wharf where we soon discovered a market that apparently runs every weekend. There was salmon, spot prawns, octopus, even sea urchins to buy. Everything looked very fresh, some is frozen but you can tell they’re all good cuts.

Wandering along, we saw so many boats, some pleasure, but many heading out to work. Some really beautiful additions are the painted benches. They were created by Art@leidesigner & give some colourful spots to sit & look at the wonderful view. Some cute boutiques are along the way with souvenirs, clothing & more.
Our plan was to stop for brunch, we decided on Britannia Brewing Company. It turned out to be the best little spot! There’s indoor or outdoor seating. It’s a brewery but served a delicious brunch. We chose the Brewers Breaky which was 2 eggs any style with bacon or sausage, roasted tomato, sauteed mushroom, fried fingerling potatoes, pickled zucchini & fresh, crusty sourdough bread. My cappuccino was also very good. The service was friendly & efficient.
Afterwards, we walked about town to see what was going on. There were plenty of restaurants & other businesses open & lots of other people enjoying the town in the sunshine.
If you haven’t been to Steveston, we’d highly recommend it at any time of year. Walk along the ocean at Garry Point Park. Take your time & remember to stop at the British store in town for pasties & British sweets!
