Albufeira Tourist Train Red Line Route & Stops (Sunrise Route)
One of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to explore Albufeira is by taking the Turístico Tourist Train, a hop-on hop-off sightseeing train that connects many of the town’s key areas. Read about our experience on the Albufeira Tourist Train, Red Line, route, stops and beaches.
The service operates two routes – the Red Line and the Blue Line – with a total of 10 stops across the network.
We decided to start with the Red Line, known as the Sunrise Route, which links Albufeira’s historic Old Town with the lively beach area of Oura.
Our nearest stop was Stop 6 – Praia dos Pescadores, located right on the cliff top above Albufeira’s main beach and only a short walk from our apartment. From here we climbed aboard and began the short but scenic ride through town.
The Red Line has six stops, making it a relaxed and inexpensive way to see several areas of Albufeira without needing a car.
Red Line Stops (Sunrise Route)
Stop 1 – Câmara Municipal – Town Hall
Shopping Mall, McDonalds, City Hall, Public Services, Post Office, Hotels,
Stop 2 – Oura Norte: The Strip – North
The Strip: Restaurants, Bars, Shops, Nightclubs.
Stop 3 – Mercado das Areias: Areias Market
Municipal Market and Supermarket.
Stop 4 – Oura Sul / Vale Faro – Beaches
Access point for Praia da Oura, one of Albufeira’s most beautiful beaches.
Stop 5 – Forte São João: Beaches
A quieter coastal stretch linking the Strip area with nearby beaches.
Stop 6 – Praia dos Pescadores: Fishermen’s Beach
The central Old Town beach and one of the main departure points for the train. Panoramic views, Nightlife, Bars, Shops.
Our Stop – Praia da Oura
We decided to hop off at Stop 4 – Oura Sul / Vale Faro.
From there it’s just a short walk downhill to Praia da Oura, a beautiful golden beach framed by cliffs and lined with cafés and restaurants.
With the sun shining and the Atlantic rolling gently onto the sand, it felt like the perfect place to pause.
We treated ourselves to dessert overlooking the water.
I chose Bomboniere ice cream treats with a cappuccino, while Andrew enjoyed a slice of petit gâteau with a pot of tea.
It was one of those simple travel moments that make a place memorable — sunshine, sea air and the relaxed rhythm of the Algarve.
After a leisurely walk along the beach, we made our way back up the hill just in time for the next train to arrive.
Within minutes we were back onboard and heading toward Stop 6 – Praia dos Pescadores, where our journey had started.
In total we spent about two hours exploring the route, and at €6 per person, it’s a very inexpensive and convenient way to discover different parts of Albufeira.

Quick Facts:
The Day Ticket allows you to travel throughout the day, you can get on or off at any stop on the same route as often as you like. Ticket valid until end of day.
You also have options to buy a one-way ticket or a combo ticket that provides access to both Red and Blue lines. Connections are mostly a 10 minute walk from one stop to the next.
