A 6-minute walk from Waterloo station, this sleek hotel is a 5-minute walk from the London Eye, and a mile from Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.
The Park Plaze has an amazing location – with views of Westminster Bridge, Parliament Buildings, Big Ben and the Thames. The facility has modern rooms have free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, plus minibars, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Studios add sofabeds. Casual 1- and 2-bedroom suites add living areas, terraces and/or kitchenettes; some have views of Big Ben or the London Eye. Kids 11 and under stay with an adult for no charge. Room service is available.
There’s a warm French restaurant, a chic sushi eatery and a patisserie, plus a cafe, and a cocktail bar with live music. There’s also a spa with an indoor pool and a gym.
Our story: This trip we decided to book a hotel right in the city, hence the stay at Park Plaza (by Radisson). We took an Uber from Heathrow Airport which cost about $98 & was over an hour drive. We had an extended trip this time, 3.5 weeks, so needed more clothing than usual, we took only what we needed to London, so stored one of our suitcases at LHR until we were going to go home to save dragging it around with us.
We went inside the revolving doors of the hotel & were directed to the escalators that would take us to check in. Beautiful, moody hotel with red features & highlights. Unfortunately, our room wasn’t ready for the 3pm check in, it wouldn’t be ready until after 4pm, due to that we were given an upgrade to a higher floor with a view of Westminster Bridge, Big Ben, the parliament buildings & The Thames.
We checked our luggage for them to bring to our room & decided to go to the Illy Cafe that is on the main level. After a good Chai Latte, tea & delicious desserts we went back to check in & were surprised to receive two bottles of wine for the delay!
The staff were attentive, we asked for more towels & extra pillows, and they came immediately. The beds were comfortable, the room was always a good temperature, which is lucky because we noticed there wasn’t a thermostat in the room. As Mr. MRT was a bit unwell this trip, we ordered soup to the room, service was quick & the food, delicious.
The bathroom was nice with a glass shower & a very spacious bathtub. The hot water was plentiful & the pressure was good. We loved that there was a living room with couch, TV, side tables & a really good kitchenette type space. There was a fridge, microwave, dishes, cutlery, a kettle, wine opener & small sink.
The view. What can we even say about the view?! It was amazing! We people watched quite a bit, as there was a lot going on, including Halloween festivities. We got video of a thunder storm that happened the one evening, it was quite cool seeing that with Big Ben in the background. Interesting fact: Big Ben is actually the name of the bell you hear tolling… the tower is named the Elizabeth Tower. On the Sunday, we were treated to many vintage cars driving past on their way to the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run 2025 – 400+ pre-1905 cars in all their glory driving across Westminster Bridge was pretty spectacular!
Our stay package came with breakfast, which was very good. It was buffet style, which I’m not usually a fan of, but it was kept immaculately clean & refreshed often. There was a good selection of fresh fruit, breads & pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, oatmeal with various toppings & other cereals. All types of coffee drinks were available, tea, juices, flavoured waters. If you wanted pancakes, Eggs Benedict or eggs cooked poached or fried, then you could pay extra for that.
We didn’t have time to check out the pool, 24 hour gym or spa services but could see many people going back & forth in hotel robes to that area. There was Brasserie Joel (where we had breakfast), Ichi Sushi & Sashimi, Illy Cafe & Primo Bar with nightly live entertainment.
The Park Plaza is located on the South Bank of the Thames & is a short walk to Waterloo & Westminster tube stations. Would highly recommend a stay here & are pleased to give it five tickets.
