Watch: Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, UAE

Tour | Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi

Walking barefoot across the cool, hand-laid marble floors, a gentle breeze moved through the abaya I was wearing as the recitation of the Holy Qur’an echoed softly through the space. From the first step inside, the atmosphere is calm, reflective, and powerful and this video captures that sense of arrival.

Our guide, Omar, spoke quietly about the history of the mosque, its design, and the daily observances of Muslim life, adding context that’s easy to miss without a tour. It’s remarkable to learn that this vast and intricate mosque was completed in just 11 years.

Inside, the scale is extraordinary. The main prayer hall features the world’s largest hand-sewn Persian carpet, weighing 45 tonnes, and until recently the mosque also held the title for the world’s largest chandelier. Even on a return visit, there is always more to understand. There are 1,000 marble columns and 82 marble domes!

Stunning. Opulent. Holy.

Those three words best describe the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and this video shows why it leaves such a lasting impression.
