The fastest way to get to know a city!
If you’ve only got a couple of days in Barcelona, trying to see everything can feel overwhelming. But what if there was a way to hit all the major sights, without the stress of planning, taxis, or endless walking? Today, we’re putting the Barcelona BusTurístic to the test… and seeing if it’s actually worth your time.
We started our journey right in the heart of the city at Plaça de Catalunya, one of the main hubs for the Barcelona BusTurístic. From here, you can choose between two routes: the Blue Line and the Red Line. We began with the Blue Line, which takes you past some of Barcelona’s most iconic architecture.
Stops include Passeig de Gràcia, home to Gaudí masterpieces like Casa Batlló, before continuing toward Park Güell and the stunning Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau. This stretch really sets the tone… creative, colourful, and unmistakably Barcelona.
And then there’s the Sagrada Família. Even from the bus, it stops you in your tracks. Towering above the city, constantly evolving, and unlike anything else in the world… this alone is worth the ride. Watch our video and feature story at myreturnticket.ca or youtube channel.
From there, the route stretches further out to Tibidabo, Sarrià, and even Camp Nou; home of FC Barcelona and one of the largest stadiums in Europe, before looping back through Les Corts and Eixample It’s a full sweep of the city’s culture, sport, and skyline.
Later that day, we switched to the Red Line, starting near the Columbus Monument at the bottom of La Rambla. This route completely changes the pace; hugging the coastline with stops at Barceloneta, Port Olímpic, Bogatell Beach, and Parc del Fòrum. More open, more relaxed… and a totally different side of Barcelona.
From there, it cuts back inland through Poblenou, Torre Glòries, and Sant Antoni before returning to the centre connecting modern Barcelona with its historic core. Beaches and the beautiful marina were admired before our final stop.
The beauty of this tour is flexibility.
You can hop off anywhere, explore, then jump back on the next bus. Buses run frequently, and the audio guide adds just enough context without slowing you down.
For us, it’s one of the easiest ways to get a full overview of Barcelona, especially if it’s your first visit. Simple, efficient… and surprisingly enjoyable.
“Would it earn a Return Ticket? You might be surprised.” Whilst it was enjoyable the morning tour lacked excitement, however the afternoon was definitely much better and thoroughly enjoyable.
