The Owl’s Nest coffee & pastries in downtown Olympia, Washington was a cool stop to make on our way to Oregon.
The Owl’s Nest serves coffee, tea & cold beverages, homemade pastries, sandwiches & salads. It’s a place that seemed to bring people together; we noted friends enjoying each other’s company, business meetings, even someone knitting while enjoying their drink.
Their locally sourced ingredients include Trailhead coffee roasted in Portland, OR and Metolius tea from Bend, OR. They use vegan ingredients, they compost, and have a low carbon footprint & even feature the work of local artists.
They’re only a few blocks from the farmer’s market & the waterfront and happen to be situated on a block on Capitol Way where all the businesses are owned & run by women.
The pastries were fresh, the drinks just what we needed (an English Breakfast tea for Mr. MRT, a lactose free, half sweet Mocha for me), and their newly expanded cafe was clean, comfortable & spacious. There was both indoor outdoor seating with a selection of tables & chairs or comfy armchairs with a coffee table. The washrooms were large & clean.
But we can’t forget the reason for their name… Resting high above the coffee bar is a huge owl’s nest! This whole spot was charming & we could park just across the street, the parking meter even showed we got free parking!
