So we went for a drive in the dismal, grey, pouring wet day & found ourselves along the Seawall in Stanley Park, Vancouver.
Seawall; Stanley Park, Vancouver
A paved 22-kilometer path surrounds the park, drawing walkers, runners, and cyclists.
Stanley Park is Vancouver’s first, largest, and most beloved urban park with:
- 400-hectare natural West Coast rainforest
- Scenic trails
- Beautiful beaches and waterfront views along the Seawall
- Local wildlife viewing opportunities
- Dining options and casual eats
- Cultural, historical, and natural landmarks
- Family attractions, including Canada’s largest aquarium
Sometimes it’s the only time we can get away for a drive & we do live in a very rainy place, so you just have to go…
There’s something so mystical about the fog, the waves & the nosy seals popping up out of the water to see what’s going on.
The lap of the waves against the Seawall. The giant commercial boats just floating in the bay. The seagulls & Canada Geese calling out to their flocks. The odd jogger splashing along.
We enjoyed a little car picnic of tea for Mr. Return Ticket, coffee for me, crustless cheese sandwiches, crisps & a little chocolate, all while listening to the driving rain on the roof.
There’s ways to enjoy the beauty of our province, no matter the weather. We don’t love the rain but we won’t melt & it’s what keeps British Columbia so green. And gorgeous.
The land is part of the traditional, ancestral territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. Located in the center of the park, is The Vancouver Aquarium. It is Canada’s largest aquarium and houses tens of thousands of aquatic animals.
We have travelled to so many places around the world and, just sometimes, it’s so nice to simply enjoy a walk in the rain near your home:)
