Great Irish food, live music and the Vegas pub that became our wedding reception
Some restaurants become more than simply somewhere you stop for dinner.
Nine Fine Irishmen is one of those places for us.
Located inside New York-New York Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, it has become something of a standing date whenever my husband and I return to Vegas.
We originally discovered the pub during one of our first trips to the city and immediately loved it. The atmosphere was lively, the service was friendly, the food was excellent and once the band started playing, the whole place seemed to come alive.
People weren’t simply sitting quietly listening to the music. They were singing. They were clapping. They were getting up and dancing.
That’s exactly what we want from an Irish pub. Nine Fine Irishmen certainly looks the part too. In fact, the pub was actually built in Ireland and shipped to Las Vegas, which probably explains why it feels rather more convincing than your average themed casino restaurant.
There’s dark wood, traditional pub styling, plenty of places to settle in with a pint and a large outdoor patio overlooking the energy of the Strip.
The name itself comes from nine Irish nationalists involved in the Young Ireland Rebellion of 1848, adding a little genuine Irish history behind all that Vegas entertainment.
But there’s another reason this place will always be special to us. It became our wedding reception.
We’d spontaneously decided to get married at Graceland Wedding Chapel earlier that day. After obtaining our marriage licence, finding temporary wedding rings and somehow managing to get ourselves suitably dressed, we were married at 6 p.m.
There wasn’t a ballroom waiting afterwards. No seating plan. No enormous wedding cake. No speeches.
Instead, we headed to Nine Fine Irishmen for dinner. And we wouldn’t change a thing. Every time we return to Vegas and walk back through those doors, it brings back memories of that wonderfully unconventional day.
Fortunately, nostalgia isn’t the only reason we keep going back. The food is genuinely good. The menu features the sort of hearty dishes you’d hope to find in an Irish pub, including shepherd’s pie, fish & chips, bangers and mash, sausage rolls and other traditional favourites.
We’ve always eaten well here. The food is served à la carte, something worth knowing before ordering, and portions tend to be substantial enough that you certainly shouldn’t leave hungry.
Then there’s the beer. A proper Irish pub in Las Vegas wouldn’t get very far without a decent pint, and Nine Fine Irishmen offers stouts, ales, lagers, Irish whiskey and other spirits.
A cold Guinness, some traditional pub food and a live Irish band while you’re sitting in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip?
Works for us. The live entertainment is really what transforms the place later in the evening.
The house band Sin é Ri-Ra mixes traditional Irish music, jigs, reels and familiar sing-alongs, and once they get going it can become a very lively night.
That’s the Nine Fine Irishmen we remember. Great food on the table. A drink in hand. A band playing. Half the pub singing. And somebody inevitably getting up to dance.
Las Vegas has hundreds of restaurants and bars, including some of the most famous dining rooms in the world.
Yet whenever we’re planning another visit, Nine Fine Irishmen somehow ends up back on the list.
There are fancier restaurants in Las Vegas. There are certainly more expensive ones. But very few hold the same memories for us. And that’s why we’ll be back.
The pub is officially listed as Irish/American and is at 3790 Las Vegas Boulevard South inside New York-New York. MGM says the venue was built in Ireland and shipped to Las Vegas, with nightly entertainment currently scheduled from 9 p.m. until close.

What Beer Can You Expect?
This is primarily an Irish pub, so Guinness is naturally front and centre, alongside a changing selection of stouts, ales and lagers. MGM currently describes the drinks program as featuring stouts, ales, lagers and spirits; its patio promotion specifically includes Guinness and Jameson.

Current published hours are Monday–Saturday, 11:00 a.m.–1:00 a.m.; Sunday, 11:00 a.m.–midnight. The kitchen operates daily from 11:00 a.m.–10:30 p.m., brunch is offered 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., and nightly entertainment begins at 9:00 p.m.
