Abbotsford Tulip Festival, Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada
The Abbotsford Tulip Festival features one of the largest displays of tulips in Canada! The Fraser Valley spectacle happens at Lakeland Flowers.
The Abbotsford Tulip Festival is a massive flower show that features 35 acres of tulips and lupins.
Our story: It was a dazzling sunny Spring day, with a slight breeze, so we decided to travel a little ways from our home to the Abbotsford Tulip Festival, hosted by Lakeland Flowers, in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.
Lakeland Flowers, owned & operated by Nick Warmerdam, a proud third-generation bulb grower, is located on the unceded territory of the Semá:th First Nation.
Flower farming runs deeply within the Warmerdam family, beginning with Peter Warmerdam in the 1950’s, his son Nick in the 1980’s & Nick’s children from the 2000’s on.
Nick’s farming background began with field-grown cut Daffodils, Gladiolas, Peonies & Tulips before diversifying into greenhouse-grown Tulips.
Over the years, Lakeland Flowers has grown & sold millions of fresh-cut blooms across Canada & the U.S.
Today, the Warmerdams continue to share their gorgeous flowers with travellers & neighbours who love to enjoy their quiet beauty.
There is plenty of parking when you arrive at the festival + there’s even a few food trucks. There is plenty of staff to direct you along your way. Your price of admission includes parking, the gardens & a bouquet of tulips (per person) as you leave.
There are conveniences such as hand washing stations & washrooms during festival time. We wouldn’t suggest trying to attempt the fields with a wheelchair as there are, of course, mostly uneven surfaces.
You’ll find plenty of photo opportunities here, with giant wooden shoes, colourful benches, huge swings & even a couple of perfectly placed baby grand pianos, all with the stunning colourful backdrop of the gardens. They’ve set up raised platforms that you can get great photos from as well.

June ~ Lupins, Peonies & Lavender
We arrived just at the end of the Tulips, although as you’ll note by the photo gallery below, they were still quite something to see. The bees were still working industriously to pollinate these delightful flowers. We’re planning a visit in June to see the Lupins, Peonies, and our favourite, Lavender.
